In 1981, after several years of looking and listening in an effort to determine if there was a god and if so who, I came to the conclusion that God was the God who tells His story through the pages of the Bible. In response to a promise I had made a year prior, I dedicated my life to following God and making Him the center of my life. For a poet supporting himself through sales having just married and emerged from a year of living in a log cabin in Tracy City,  Tennessee, the transition and subsequent journey was a fascinating odyssey.

In response to a dream followed by a great deal of prayer, I made the decision to close my company in Dallas, Texas and pursue studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. I attended seminary from 1984 to 1988 and began my pastoral experience while attending classes.

1986 - 1988 Christ's Independent Methodist Church - Youth Pastor/ Associate Pastor/ Interim Worship Leader

My first ministry was in Cedar Hill, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. The church was growing and transitioning. I began as a youth pastor with a small group of 4 young people in regular attendance of youth functions. The group grew into a dynamic group of 40 committed youth involved in a variety of ministries in the community. Several from the group went on into full time professional service.

1988 - 1989 On Stage - Urban Missions with the Evangelical Free Church of America

Being from New Orleans, there was always a part of my heart which went out to the streets of the French Quarter. Under the direction of Glen Schriebber, regional missions director for EFC, I went to work planing a ministry in the French Quarter which was to minister to the street performers and patrons of the Quarter. Our team was joined by Mo Leverett who went on to establish Desire Ministries. The ministry was aimed at creative methods for sharing Christ in urban America.

1989 - 1995 Christ Cornerstone Church - Pastor

Accepting a call to return to Cedar Hill, Texas to pastor was my first official call as a senior pastor. I took  declining church of 26 people  and was able to lead them forward to become a stable church. During this time the church was able to grow to 125 people in regular attendance and pay off land that it was purchasing for building their own building.

1989 - 1995 Christway Academy - Teacher/ Coach

In order to support my family while leading the church, it was necessary to work outside my primary ministry. I took a position working as drama and creative writing teacher for Christway Academy of Duncanville, Texas. Along with my teaching duties I was the head coach of the first tackle football team in school history. In my second, I became the Bible and English teacher and added track to my coaching responsibilities. I was able to lead the team to a district championship and the state semi finals in its second year.

1995 - 1997 Dove Detention - Director of Educational and Church Programs

Dove Detention was a private prison management company with prisons in Pearsal and Crystal City, Texas. I handled all educational and church programming as well as working at an liaison between staff and inmates. On two occasions I walked into riots and negotiated a peaceful solution to the problems. I was responsible for staffing all church services as well as teaching and counseling duties in both prisons.

1998 - 2000 Single Parents support Group and Study

In 1998 I found myself in the unfortunate situation of a divorce I could not prevent. I found a number of single parents who like me were finding rejection and scorn in local Christian churches. Therefore, I began a support group and bible study group which met in my home. At this time I also committed to writing a support book for men which was later published as The Single Dad's Survival Guide.

2005 - 2008 Grace Point Church - Pastor

After almost a decade out of pastoral ministry, I returned to the pastorate taking a small church in Dripping Springs, Texas.  The church  ministers to about 80 members and helps support ministries in our community of Dripping Springs, Texas and overseas in Kenya.

Present

I am presently pastoring Bible Fellowship Church of Dighton, Kansas. The community is small but the love is big and  I am proud to be here to serve the Lord.
