Though I consider myself a poet, my first published works were plays. In 1976, the one-act play "A Vengeful God" was performed at the Red Dog Saloon in Lafeyette, Louisiana. since that time, I have published several plays with small presses and written several first person narrative and one person scripts.

In the eighties my writing and publishing emphasis shifted to poetry and various free lance efforts with periodicals. I experienced some success publishing poetry with a variety of small presses in the Dallas, Texas area including a regional arts newspaper produced by the Studio Upstairs and Karen Allison and "Illya's Honey", a poetry quarterly. I also read poetry at a number of readings and gatherings, most notably an evening with Allen Ginsburg where we read via satellite from the Stark Club in Dallas. My success in poetry spread and I received several awards for national and international poetry contest including a Pushcart nomination in 2003.

Periodical and magazine articles included writing one page short stories for "Teen Walk" of Atlanta, Ga. and articles on family life for "C-Mag" of Ravensburg, Germany. More recent free lance includes articles for Focus on the Family dealing with a variety of issues from single parenting to marital fidelity.

In 2003, Waterbrook Press, a division of Random House, released:

The Single Dad's Survival Guide a companion for single dads.

In 2008, Daily Grind, #1 in the Doug Daily Mystery Series will be released by HighPoint Publishers  The Wonderfully Chaotic Blended Family yet to be scheduled for release .
